Guided Meditation with Jon Kabat-Zinn: The Body Scan
Often, we are so busy "doing" that we forget to cultivate our "being" mode -- a stillness and awareness that can be profoundly healing.
In order to cultivate your inner awareness, and let go of judgments and critical thoughts, follow this Guided Body Scan with mindfulness expert Jon Kabat-Zinn. This half-hour guided meditation will help you befriend yourself and let your deep inner resources nurture your life.
Create an upward spiral of happiness in your life by following the "4 Rituals That Will Make You Happy" explained by UCLA neuroscience researcher Alex Korb Ph.D.:
(1) Ask yourself this question: "What am I grateful for?" -- No answers? Doesn't matter. Just searching helps.
(2) Label your negative emotions. -- Give that awful feeling a name and your brain isn't so bothered by it.
(3) Make a decision to feel you have control. -- Go for a "good enough" decision...
Active Listening - A Key to Better Communication
Often when people talk to each other, they don't listen attentively to the other person. They are often distracted or busy formulating a response to what is being said. "Active Listening" is a way of listening and responding to another person that improves mutual understanding. It is particularly helpful when people are in conflict.
